The makers of Tums ran this paper advertisement, which appeared in a 1947 magazine, featuring Captain John J. Ayres of the Ridgewood, New Jersey, police. The ad shows the captain saying: I eat coffee and cake, coffee and a sandwich, coffee and doughnuts. And when acid indigestion starts to trouble, I just slip one or two Tums in my mouth, and get that great Tums relief fast! The ad comes uncut from its original page and is dated November 10, 1947.
